A total of 20 children aged 4–6 years in Polewali Mandar Regency participated in this program. The intervention was conducted through play therapy over a three-week period, with a frequency of two sessions per week, resulting in a total of six sessions. The activities included coloring, role-playing, ball games, and making and flying paper planes. Observational results showed that prior to the intervention, the frequency of tantrums ranged from 2–3 times per day with a duration of 6–10 minutes. After the intervention, the frequency decreased to 0–1 times per day with a duration of 1–3 minutes. In addition, the children demonstrated improvements in focus, emotional regulation, and social interaction with their surroundings. This program indicates that play therapy is an effective, simple, and enjoyable strategy for reducing tantrum behavior in early childhood related to gadget use.
Nur Syamsia, Fredy Akbar K, Syamsidar Syamsidar Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat JUPEMANDO https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/254 Fri, 26 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Peningkatan Status Gizi Balita melalui Pelatihan PMT Berbasis Pangan Lokal pada Ibu Balita di Desa Katumbangan https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/256
Nutritional problems among toddlers remain a challenge in Indonesia, including in Katumbangan Village, Polewali Mandar Regency, where cases of undernutrition and stunting are still prevalent. Utilizing local foods as complementary feeding (PMT) is considered important because they are nutritious, affordable, and easily available. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of mothers in preparing PMT based on local foods and to observe its impact on toddler nutritional status. A total of 30 mothers participated in activities including pre-test, counseling, demonstration, practice, and evaluation through post-test, observation, and monitoring of toddler nutritional status. Data were analyzed descriptively. Results showed an increase in the average knowledge score of mothers from 55.6 to 83.2, with 90% of mothers able to practice PMT preparation correctly. The nutritional status of toddlers also improved, with the proportion of well-nourished children (weight-for-age) increasing from 40% to 60%. It can be concluded that local food-based PMT training effectively improves mothers’ knowledge and skills and has a positive impact on toddler nutritional status. This program should be continued through integrated posyandu activities and multisectoral support as part of stunting prevention efforts.
Syamsidar Syamsidar, Adi Hermawan, Idawati Ambohamsah, Kamelia Kamelia Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat JUPEMANDO https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/256 Sat, 27 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Pemberdayaan Kader Melalui Pelaksanaan Bantuan Hidup Dasar (BHD) di Wilayah Pesisir Kabupaten Mamuju https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/285
Communities living in coastal areas are at higher risk for drowning and cardiac arrest events. Therefore, improving first aid knowledge and skills is essential. This community engagement program aimed to enhance the capacity of community health cadres and coastal residents in performing Basic Life Support (BLS). The methods included socialization, training, demonstration, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test assessments. A total of 80 participants were involved, consisting of health cadres, midwives, village officials, and fishermen. The results showed an increase in knowledge, with 75% categorized as good. Participants were also able to independently perform BLS skills. This program demonstrates the effectiveness of interprofessional collaboration–based training in improving emergency preparedness in coastal communities.
Syafruddin Ali Salaka, Iqra S Iqra S, I Made Sudarta Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat JUPEMANDO https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/285 Tue, 30 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Peningkatan Pengetahuan Remaja tentang Pernikahan Dini sebagai Faktor Risiko Stunting https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/286
Marriage is a socially and legally recognized union between two individuals regarded as partners. Early marriage remains a persistent issue in West Sulawesi, including in Mamuju, where its prevalence continues to be high and is accompanied by elevated stunting rates. This situation underscores the need for collective attention and coordinated action from all stakeholders to reduce both early marriage and stunting. The low level of adolescents’ knowledge regarding the impact of early marriage on stunting served as the basis for implementing this community service activity. The purpose of this program was to enhance adolescents’ understanding of early marriage as a risk factor for stunting. The activity was carried out at SMAN 3 Mamuju. An increase in participants’ knowledge about early marriage and stunting was observed following the educational intervention. It is expected that the students will take part in efforts to reduce the prevalence of early marriage, particularly in Mamuju.
I Made Sudarta, Iqra S Iqra S, Yasirul Muntaha Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat JUPEMANDO https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/286 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Penguatan Pencegahan Hepatitis B melalui Penyuluhan pada Kader dan Ibu Hamil di Kecamatan Mamuju https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/290
Chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection (Chronic Hepatitis B/CHB) remains a major global health problem. In HBV-endemic regions, vertical transmission or mother-to-child transmission constitutes a serious concern. Hepatitis B virus infection can lead to either acute or chronic hepatitis. A reactive/positive HBsAg test indicates the presence of hepatitis B infection in the body. Hepatitis B affects the liver and is associated with several adverse pregnancy outcomes, including preterm birth, low birth weight (<2500 g), premature rupture of membranes, gestational diabetes, and congenital abnormalities related to HBV infection. It is therefore essential to disseminate information to pregnant women and community health volunteers (kader) regarding the impacts of Hepatitis B infection. The objective of this community service activity is to improve the knowledge of community health volunteers and pregnant women about Hepatitis B infection and the simple urine bilirubin screening test. The proposed solution for addressing the identified problems is to provide assistance and education to health volunteers and pregnant women related to Hepatitis B and the method of urine bilirubin testing. The implementation method involves conducting educational and outreach sessions for the target groups regarding Hepatitis B infection. The target partners of this community service program are community health volunteers (kader) and pregnant women. The method used includes delivering educational materials through health education sessions for volunteers and interactive discussions, preceded by a pre-test and concluded with a post-test. Follow-up activities include mentoring volunteers in providing health counseling on Hepatitis B infection to pregnant women.
Abbas Mahmud, Rizki Dyah Haninggar Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat JUPEMANDO https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ https://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/JUPEMANDO/article/view/290 Wed, 31 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000
