This study aims to analyze the impact of alcohol use on adolescent health through a case study approach. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with in-depth interviews with five adolescent alcohol users in Mamasa, West Sulawesi, as well as direct observation. Data were analyzed using a thematic approach to identify key patterns related to health impacts. The results showed that alcohol use in adolescents causes health problems such as impaired liver function, decreased immunity, and cognitive problems. In addition, changes in social behavior were found, including aggressiveness, impaired family relationships, and involvement in risky behavior. Causal factors include peer pressure, social environmental influences, and lack of family supervision. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the need for holistic interventions, involving health education, active family roles, and strict policies in controlling access to alcohol in adolescents. These findings are expected to be the basis for developing effective prevention programs to minimize the negative impacts of alcohol use among adolescents.
Suryadi Suryadi, Novtalya Novtalya Copyright (c) 2024 Mando Care Jurnal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ http://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/MCJ/article/view/171 Sun, 29 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Status Gizi Berhubungan dengan Perkembangan Bicara Anak Usia 22 – 31 Bulan Di Desa Karampuang http://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/MCJ/article/view/196
Speech development in children aged 22–31 months is associated with nutritional status. Hypertension particularly affects the elderly, whose bodies become weaker due to a compromised immune system, making them more susceptible to diseases, environmental changes, loss of agility and mobility, and physiological changes. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing the occurrence of hypertension among the elderly in Bambu Village. The research employs a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational approach and a cross-sectional design. A total of 65 respondents were sampled using area sampling techniques. The Chi-square statistical test was used to determine the p-value. The instruments used in this study included a closed-question questionnaire and a needle-based blood pressure monitor (aneroid) with the OneMed brand. The results showed that poor physical activity was observed in 44 respondents (67.7%) with a p-value of 0.037, non-smoking behavior was found in 59 respondents (90.8%) with a p-value of 0.379, good dietary patterns were identified in 61 respondents (93.8%) with a p-value of 0.305, and good coffee consumption habits were noted in 49 respondents (75.4%) with a p-value of 0.383. Additionally, mild hypertension was found in the majority, affecting 27 respondents (41.5%). There is a significant relationship between physical activity and the occurrence of hypertension among the elderly in Bambu Village. Interventions for the elderly and health education on the importance of blood pressure control and healthy lifestyles are necessary.
Ardiansah Ardiansah, Akbar Nur, I Kadek Dwi Swarjana, Iqra S Iqra S, Wita Oileri Tikirik Copyright (c) 2024 Mando Care Jurnal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ http://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/MCJ/article/view/203 Sun, 29 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Efek Pendidikan Kesehatan terhadap Pengetahuan Lansia dalam Pencegahan Kolestrol http://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/MCJ/article/view/200
Prevention of cholesterol can be carried out for all individuals with cholesterol issues. Several natural, safe, and effective ways to reduce cholesterol levels include consuming cholesterol-lowering foods, exercising regularly, reducing sugar intake, avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, managing stress, and taking additional cholesterol-lowering supplements. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between health education and elderly knowledge regarding cholesterol prevention. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study consisted of 40 elderly individuals in Karampuang Village, with a total sampling technique used to select all 40 participants. Data were analyzed using a paired test to determine the p-value. Before receiving health education, the majority of the elderly participants (57.5%) had poor knowledge, and none were categorized as having good knowledge. After health education, 85.0% of the participants reached the good knowledge category, while the moderate knowledge category decreased to 15.0%, and no participants remained in the poor knowledge category. Health education significantly improved the level of knowledge among the elderly regarding cholesterol prevention.
Rismawati Rismawati Copyright (c) 2024 Mando Care Jurnal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ http://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/MCJ/article/view/200 Sun, 29 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Dukungan Keluarga Berhubungan dengan Personal Hygiene pada Lansia di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Binanga http://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/MCJ/article/view/204
Elderly refers to a condition where an organism has reached maturity in function and size and has undergone changes over time. Personal hygiene issues among the elderly often arise due to various physical, psychological, and environmental factors. Personal hygiene is a fundamental step in maintaining health, as a clean body can minimize the risk of contracting diseases, particularly those related to poor personal hygiene. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between family support and personal hygiene among the elderly in the Binanga Health Center working area. The research employed an analytical correlation design, emphasizing the relationship between variables or between independent and dependent variables. The study results indicate a significant relationship between family support and the personal hygiene of the elderly, as shown by the Chi-square test result with a p-value of 0.000 or α<0.05. This study demonstrates that elderly individuals who receive adequate physical, emotional, and informational support from their families tend to have better personal hygiene. These findings can serve as a foundation for developing elderly health programs, such as educating families on the importance of their support and role in maintaining the cleanliness of the elderly at the community level.
Thahirah Thahirah, Jumeiyanti Fajar Sitta Pesihatu, Eka Rahmawati Copyright (c) 2024 Mando Care Jurnal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ http://mcj.yamando.id/index.php/MCJ/article/view/204 Sun, 29 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000
